Specialty Courses
The PADI curriculum also offers certification in various dive specialties such as Wreck Diving, Navigation or Deep Diving.  Unlike the 1-dive Adventure Dives, these dive specialties are multi-dive courses with some classroom work as well as diving.

Aware--Coral Reef Conservation Specialty.  This is a non-diving course designed to teach divers, snorklers and others about the role coral reefs play in the marine environment and how these ecosystems are currently threatened.  The course familiarizes participants with the current state of the world's coral reefs and explains how individuals can help protect the living reef from further decline.   The course fee is $100.

Aware--Project Aware Specialty. The Project AWARE Specialty program is designed to familiarize divers and nondivers with the plight of worldwide aquatic ecosystems.  It also describes what individuals can do to help protect aquatic resources.  The program is a nondiving course that only contains classroom presentations.   The course fee is $100.

Deep Diver.  The Deep specialty course is designed for certified divers who want to explore depths up to 130 feet.  The course teaches you to plan these deeper dives, calculate your air consumption, and safely ascend from these depths.  You must be an Advanced Open Water Diver and 16 years or older to enroll in the Deep Diver courts.  Training consists of at least one class session and 4 boat dives.  The course fee is $330, but does not include applicable boat fees and gear rental charges.
