Cordova Diving offers specialized diving-related safety and first aid courses through Emergency First Response (EFR) and Diver’s Alert Network (DAN).
Both the EFR Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) classes and the DAN Basic Life Support and First Aid classes utilize independent study, video presentations, live skill development and scenario practice. They follow the same priorities as paramedics and the protocols from the consensus view of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). The CPR and BLS course focus on the ABCD’s of emergency care for most life-threatening situations. The First Aid courses cover injury and illness assessment, bandaging and splinting for dislocations and fractures.
We also separately offer DAN’s Emergency Oxygen, Neurological Assessment and Hazardous Marine Injuries courses which are bundled together with DAN’s BLS course as the Dive Emergency Management Provider certification (DEMP).
The EFR Primary and Secondary Care course costs $150 for semi-private classes of no more than 2 students; $120 for classes of 3 or more students; and $90 for guests of The Hotel Cordova and Hostel. The DAN BLS and FA course is the same price as the EFR course.
DAN’s EmergencyOxygen, Neurological Assessment and Hazardous Marine Injuries courses are $100 each for semi-private instruction; $75 for classes of 3 or more students; and $50 for guests of The Hotel Cordova and Hostel. All four DAN courses are combined in the DEMP certification for $250 for semi-private instruction; $200 for classes o 3 or more students and $150 for guests of The Hotel Cordova and Hostel.
Note that the PADI Rescue Course includes the DEMP certification.
